Whittier splits neatly between the old grid and the hills. Uptown along Greenleaf Avenue is brick and storefront glass from the 1920s and 30s, with transoms above the display windows and original wood sash on the upper floors. Crews work that stretch early, before the restaurants open, using ladder setups sized for a sidewalk instead of a driveway.
South and east it changes fast. Friendly Hills and the streets climbing toward Turnbull Canyon are split level and ranch homes on sloped lots, with wide rear glass looking back across the basin and driveways steep enough to change how a ladder gets footed. The flatter tracts off Whittier Boulevard and Painter Avenue move quicker, mostly postwar single story homes with aluminum sliders and a few vinyl replacements. Whittier College and the surrounding rentals turn over on the school calendar, so late summer fills up with move in cleans before the fall term starts.
Amazing job. Very professional and our windows are perfectly clean. Thanks Squeegeezy!

Like peas in a pod...

Whittier sits at the foot of the Puente Hills, and those hills give up dry chaparral dust through most of the year. Layer on the exhaust film that builds on anything facing Whittier Boulevard and street side glass ends up with a grey, slightly greasy skin rather than loose dust you can wipe away.
On the hillside streets the second problem is water. Sprinkler heads that reach the lower panes leave mineral spotting that hardens into scale over a season or two. We treat the two separately: a wash that lifts the road film first, then a mineral specific step on the spotted areas, and a check of the wood sash on the older Uptown buildings so paint and glazing putty are not disturbed.
Yes, and we schedule that stretch of Greenleaf Avenue early so the work is finished before the shops and restaurants open. Display windows, the transom glass above them and the upper floor sash all get handled on the same visit. Sidewalk setups mean shorter ladders and a spotter when foot traffic picks up. On the older buildings we check the glazing putty first, since aggressive scraping on brittle putty causes more trouble than the dirt did.
The streets climbing toward Turnbull Canyon and through Friendly Hills are exactly the situation we plan for. Sloped driveways and terraced yards mean a ladder cannot simply be set and climbed, so crews carry levelers and stabilizers and take the extra minutes to establish footing. Rear elevations facing the basin often have the largest glass and the worst access, so we look at those first and tell you up front if anything is genuinely unreachable.
In most cases yes. Sprinkler spotting on the lower panes is common on the hillside streets, and if it is a season or two old it lifts with a mineral treatment and a proper wash. Deposits that have sat for years can etch the glass surface itself, and no cleaner reverses that. We test a small area, show you the result, and give you a straight answer rather than charging for repeated attempts that will not change anything.
