Tacoma's housing stock runs older than most of the South Sound, and the glass shows it. The North End, Stadium District and North Slope are full of Craftsman and Victorian homes with true divided light sash, wooden storm windows and transoms over the front door. Work like that is slower and gets done pane by pane. Down the hill toward the Dome District and along Pacific Avenue, storefronts and converted warehouses have tall single pane display glass facing the street.
The city sits on hills that drop toward Commencement Bay, so a house on North Yakima Avenue and one up in Northeast Tacoma need different ladder setups on the same day. We keep the hillside neighborhoods grouped and run the flatter routes through South Tacoma and the Lincoln District separately. Commercial glass along Sixth Avenue and in Proctor usually sits on a repeat schedule, while residential work clusters into the drier months.
Amazing job. Very professional and our windows are perfectly clean. Thanks Squeegeezy!

Like peas in a pod...

Commencement Bay puts salt in the air, and a breeze carries it onto west and north facing glass along with fine grit off the tideflats and the port. That mix dries into a haze plain water will not lift. Add the mildew that settles into old wood sash and putty lines on the shaded side of a house and the windows look dull even right after a hard rain.
On historic sash we keep water off the wood and putty, clean the glass and wipe the rails dry rather than flooding the frame. Salt film gets a proper wash, not a rinse, since rinsing only moves it around. Storm windows come out, get cleaned on both faces and go back in, because that trapped inner surface is where most of the cloudiness lives.
We do this regularly in the North End, North Slope and Stadium District. Divided light sash gets cleaned pane by pane, and we keep water off aging putty lines and painted wood rather than flooding the frame. Rails and sills are wiped dry before we move on. If a sash is loose or the glazing is failing, we will point it out instead of working around it and hoping for the best.
Late spring through early fall is the most comfortable stretch, and it is when most homeowners here book. That said, salt haze off Commencement Bay builds through the wet months, so a winter or early spring clean is genuinely worthwhile if your house faces the water. We work year round and simply plan around the forecast. Booking ahead for summer matters, since that window fills quickly across the South Sound.
Yes. Shops along Sixth Avenue, in Proctor and through the downtown core usually run on a standing schedule, weekly, biweekly or monthly depending on foot traffic. Street level display glass collects road spray and handprints faster than anything on a house. We work early before opening where that suits you, and keep entry glass, door frames and thresholds included rather than charged separately.
