Sparks grew up around the railroad and the shape of that is still obvious on the ground. Victorian Square anchors a compact downtown of storefront glass sitting right on the sidewalk, B Street and Pyramid Way carry the older housing stock, and east of town spreads one of the largest warehouse and distribution districts in northern Nevada. Three neighborhoods, three completely different kinds of window.
The split gives us two schedules. Commercial glass around Victorian Square and along Prater Way gets frequent, short visits, because panes at street level pick up hand prints and shoe scuff daily. Residential routes run through the older neighborhoods near Greenbrae and out to the newer subdivisions in Spanish Springs, where lots are larger and entry glass runs taller. Anything close to the Sparks Marina gets an early slot, before the afternoon wind comes across the water and puts spray back on what we just finished.
Amazing job. Very professional and our windows are perfectly clean. Thanks Squeegeezy!

Like peas in a pod...

Sparks has a wide daily temperature swing, and that is the quiet culprit on glass here. Warm afternoons followed by cold nights leave condensation across every exterior pane by dawn, and whatever dust is hanging in the air sticks to it and dries in place by midmorning.
The industrial east side adds diesel exhaust and tire dust that bond into a gray film on office and storefront glass, and that needs a detergent wash rather than a rinse. Out by the Marina, waterfowl are a genuine factor on lower windows and railings. Then winter arrives, road cinders get thrown up onto ground floor glass, and the spring clean has to handle all of it at once.
We do, and downtown storefronts run on a far shorter cycle than houses. Glass at sidewalk level picks up hand prints, shoe scuff and door push marks every single day, so most Victorian Square and Prater Way businesses book weekly, biweekly or monthly. Visits are short and scheduled before opening so nobody is working around customers. Interior and exterior faces both get done, along with entry doors and their frames.
Wide daily temperature swings are the cause. A warm afternoon followed by a cold night puts condensation across the outside of every pane by dawn, and airborne dust sticks to that moisture and dries onto the glass by midmorning. It is not a sign of a failed seal unless the fog is trapped between panes. We schedule exterior cleans later in the morning here so the surface is dry before a squeegee touches it.
Yes, the distribution district is regular work for us. Diesel exhaust and tire dust bond into a gray film on office and storefront glass out there, and plain water will not shift it, so those panes get a detergent wash before the rinse. We schedule around dock activity and shift changes so crews are not sharing space with forklifts. Buildings on the busiest truck routes usually settle onto a quarterly plan.
