Salem is a government town before it is anything else, and the property mix reflects that. Around the capitol the buildings are institutional, with tall multi story window runs and lobby glass cleaned on a schedule the public never notices. A few blocks away the Court Chemeketa and Gaiety Hill districts hold century old houses with divided light sash and stained glass, while West Salem and the south end lean midcentury and modern.
The public sector calendar matters more here than in most cities. Institutional and office work gets booked around session schedules and building access, usually early morning or on a weekend. Residential appointments fill the rest of the week, grouped by district. The historic neighborhoods take longer per house than a modern build, so they are allotted extra time rather than compressed to fit an average.
Amazing job. Very professional and our windows are perfectly clean. Thanks Squeegeezy!

Like peas in a pod...

River fog off the Willamette settles over the valley floor and keeps glass damp well into the morning for much of the year. That damp is what lets pollen, road film and organic growth set on the surface instead of blowing free. Spring in this valley arrives short and intense, and the pollen coming off surrounding orchards and grass fields is heavy enough to coat a window within days.
Pollen season work includes screens as a matter of course, because the mesh holds far more than the glass does and reloads the pane at the first breeze. Damp set film gets detergent and agitation rather than a rinse. On older sash we clean pane by pane and dry the wood, since a frame in a river valley already carries about as much moisture as it wants.
Yes. Institutional and office glass around the capitol area is generally cleaned on a standing schedule, timed early in the morning or on a weekend so building traffic is not disrupted. We coordinate with facilities staff on access, security requirements and which floors can be reached from the ground. Lobby glass, entry doors and interior partitions can be quoted as one job or separately.
Late spring is the heaviest stretch, when the orchards and grass fields around the valley all release at once. A clean booked in the middle of it will not last, so most homeowners here get better value scheduling just after the season winds down. Screens hold more pollen than the glass does, so washing them is what actually keeps the windows from reloading a few days later.
We do this often in the older districts near downtown. Stained and leaded panels are cleaned gently with no scraping and no pressure on the leading, and divided sash is worked pane by pane. Water is kept off putty lines, and the wood gets dried rather than left wet in a valley climate. If a panel is bowing or a came is failing we will tell you rather than work around it.
