Redding stretches along the Sacramento River, and the river is the reference point for nearly everything. West side neighborhoods climb toward the ridges, with homes set among oak and pine, large view glass facing back across the valley and driveways cut into the slope. East of the river the ground flattens into older tract and newer subdivisions where the work moves faster and stays mostly single story.
Downtown and the Hilltop Drive corridor hold the commercial glass, from restaurant fronts and shop windows to office suites and medical buildings. Homes down near the river bottom sit under heavy tree cover, which changes the job completely: less direct sun, far more organic debris, and glass that stays damp well into the morning through winter. Summer routing follows the temperature, exposed elevations early and shaded sides through the afternoon.
Amazing job. Very professional and our windows are perfectly clean. Thanks Squeegeezy!

Like peas in a pod...

Fire season is the defining factor, and it is not an abstract one here. When smoke settles over the valley, ash lands on every surface and stays until something washes it off. It is gritty and alkaline, so wiping it dry scratches the pane, and leaving it through the first rain leaves streaked deposits running down the glass.
The rest of the year has its own load. Pine pollen in spring, sap dripping from limbs that overhang the river side of town, and dust lifted off dry ground through a long hot summer. We flood ash instead of wiping it, give sap time to soften before any blade comes near the glass, and clear sills and tracks so the next rain does not undo the visit.
By flooding the pane before anything touches it. Ash is gritty and slightly caustic, so wiping it dry scratches the glass and rubbing it wet can leave a hazy residue. We rinse it off first, then wash properly with a solution that neutralizes what is left, and clear sills, tracks and screens where the heavier material collects. If the air is still full of smoke, waiting a few days usually saves you paying for two visits.
Yes, and they are often the reason people call. Homes above the valley tend to have wide fixed panels and tall glass facing the view, set on lots that drop away sharply behind the house. Crews use water fed poles from stable ground wherever possible and set ladders with levelers where they must. We look at the downhill side first, since that is where the access problems live and where the quote gets decided.
Late spring, once pollen has finished falling, and again in autumn after fire season has settled. Those two visits cover most of what the year throws at glass here. Midsummer work is entirely doable, we just start early and follow the shade so nothing flash dries in triple digit heat. If a smoke event coats your windows outside that rhythm, a cleanup visit afterward is usually worth doing rather than waiting.
