Pueblo has genuinely old housing, and that shapes almost every residential visit. The North Side and the blocks around Mesa Junction hold brick homes and bungalows from the 1890s through the 1920s, many with original wood sash, wavy glass and storm panels added decades later. Bessemer, built for mill families, runs to smaller frame houses on compact lots. These are not the same windows found in newer Front Range suburbs, and they need slower hands and softer solution.
Downtown gives us the other half of the work. The historic buildings along Union Avenue and near the Riverwalk carry tall display glass, transoms and upper floor sash that has been in place for generations. Because Pueblo sits lower and warmer than the cities north of the Palmer Divide, our working season stretches noticeably longer here, and we can often keep cleaning comfortably into November and start again in March. That longer runway also means fewer clients competing for the same handful of spring weekends.

Like peas in a pod...
Two things drive soiling here. The first is industrial and rail activity on the south and east sides of the city, which puts a fine metallic dust into the air that settles on nearby glass and dulls it without ever looking obviously dirty. The second is the Arkansas valley itself, where dry ground and steady afternoon wind lift plain dust onto any exposed elevation.
Late summer adds something specific to Pueblo. When the chile roasters fire up in September, oily smoke drifts through the neighborhoods around them and leaves a faint tacky film that plain water will not lift. That needs a degreasing pass before the glass is finished normally. We schedule a lot of fall cleans after that stretch rather than during it, so the result actually holds.
Regularly. The older housing on the North Side and around Mesa Junction still runs original wood sash, and some of it holds wavy period glass that is thinner and more brittle than modern panes. We use gentle solution, keep scrapers away from old glazing putty, avoid saturating the wood and dry the frames properly. Where storm panels have been added over the years, we clean both faces of the storm and both faces of the sash.
That is usually smoke residue. When the chile roasters run in September, oily smoke carries through nearby blocks and settles on glass as a thin sticky film. Water alone slides right over it and leaves streaks, so it needs a degreasing pass first and then a normal clean and dry. For most homes near the roasting spots, we suggest booking after that season has finished rather than in the middle of it.
Longer than in most of the Front Range. Sitting lower and warmer than the cities north of the Palmer Divide, Pueblo usually gives us workable conditions from March into November, with mild stretches in between that let us clean exterior glass in midwinter. That means less pressure to squeeze everything into a short spring and fall window, and easier scheduling if you prefer a quieter time of year.
