Pompano Beach has a working waterfront and that sets it apart from its neighbors. Along the Intracoastal and up toward the inlet there are boatyards, marine repair shops and marinas, and the glass there belongs to offices, service bays and showrooms sitting in an industrial environment right beside salt water. That combination is unusual and it needs a different method from a beachfront condominium.
The residential city runs in bands from east to west. The barrier island is low rise condos and small hotels facing the ocean. Between the Intracoastal and Federal Highway the older neighborhoods hold 1950s and 60s block homes with jalousie porches. West of Interstate 95 the streets get newer and quieter, and out along the Copans Road industrial area the work turns to warehouse offices and glass fronted business units. We route band by band rather than crossing the city repeatedly.
Amazing job. Very professional and our windows are perfectly clean. Thanks Squeegeezy!

Like peas in a pod...

Two things land on Pompano glass that do not land everywhere. The first is the obvious one, salt, heaviest on the island and near the inlet where moving water throws spray. The second comes from the marine trade. Boatyards generate sanding dust from hull work, and fine bottom paint and fiberglass particles travel further than people assume. On glass they behave abrasively, so a dry wipe is the worst available response.
Everything gets flooded first and lifted away in the water, and coastal and yard properties finish with a pure water rinse. Residential work west of the highway is the ordinary Broward mixture instead: humidity in shaded frames, sprinkler minerals on low windows and lovebug residue twice a year on the sunny elevations.
Yes, and it is work we know well. Yard offices, showrooms and service bay glass sit in an environment that combines salt air with sanding dust from hull work, which is a harder combination than either on its own. Those jobs are always wet cleaned so nothing abrasive gets dragged across a pane, and we schedule around yard operations rather than trying to work through them. Screens and frames get done at the same time.
Yes. The buildings along the island are mostly smaller than the towers further south, which makes them straightforward to reach and easy to schedule. Access is arranged with the association or manager, and we quote by elevation with a per unit breakdown if the board wants one. Ocean facing glass here takes salt every day, so most buildings we serve run three or four visits a year rather than one.
Because so much of what settles on it is abrasive. Salt crystals, wind blown sand and, near the yards, fine particles from hull sanding all sit on the surface, and a dry cloth turns them into a polishing compound that scratches the pane it is meant to clean. That is how a lot of hazing gets caused. We flood the glass first so everything lifts away in the water before any tool touches the surface.
