Ogden holds some of the oldest housing anywhere along the Wasatch Front, and the East Central and Jefferson neighborhoods show it best. Victorians, four squares and early craftsman homes sit on tree lined streets there, most with original wood sash, storm panels added later and porches that complicate ladder placement. Climb east toward the bench and Weber State and the homes get newer and the lots steeper, with larger glass angled toward the valley.
Historic 25th Street is the commercial anchor and a genuinely different kind of job. Those old brick buildings carry deep display windows, transoms and upper floor sash, and the restaurants and bars along that stretch want frequent visits during the busy season. We work the street early, then head into the neighborhoods. Properties up toward the mouth of the canyon get their own attention, since access there is tighter, the driveways are steeper and the ground is rougher underfoot.

Snow behaves differently here than it does further south. Bands coming off the lake can drop heavy, wet snow on Ogden specifically while other places stay clear, and that snow packs against lower windows and sits. The city and county then sand and treat the streets, and every passing vehicle throws that mix onto anything facing the road, which is why storefront glass along the main corridors takes the worst of it.
The canyon supplies the other half. Air moving down out of the mountains brings pine debris, dust and dry needles onto east side properties in every season. We rinse and float that material off rather than wiping it, then clean sash, storm panels and frames by hand so nothing abrasive gets left behind.
Yes, and a great many homes here still have them. The older neighborhoods run original wood sash with a separate storm panel added over the years, which means four glass faces rather than two on every opening. We take the storm off where the hardware allows, wash both sides of it and both sides of the sash, then reset it. We count those openings honestly in the quote so you know what you are paying for.
Road sand and de-icer. Heavy wet snow bands can hit this area harder than places nearby, and the streets get sanded and treated in response. Passing traffic throws that mixture onto anything within a lane or so, which is why storefront and ground floor glass along the busy corridors takes the worst of it. It is abrasive, so it needs flooding off with water first. A late winter clean keeps it out of the frames.
