Most of Mesa runs on Salt River Project water, and it is hard enough that irrigation overspray leaves a visible mineral haze across the lower third of a window inside a single season. Homeowners usually assume the glass is etched. Most of the time it is not. The scale is sitting on top, and it comes off if you treat it rather than attack it.
The other Mesa factor is construction. The east side has been building continuously for years, and fine cement and drywall dust travels a long way on a spring wind. If you back onto an active lot out toward Eastmark or the Signal Butte corridor, expect to want the glass done more often than a neighbor two miles west, and expect the screens to be holding more of it than the panes are.
