Jacksonville covers more ground than almost any city in the country, and the St. Johns River winds through the middle of it, so the bridges decide how a day gets planned more than the mileage does. A job in Riverside and a job at the beaches are the same city on paper and forty minutes apart in practice. We build routes by side of the river and by quadrant, and the beaches get grouped onto their own day.
The housing varies as much as the geography. Riverside and Avondale hold 1910s and 1920s homes with tall double hung sash, leaded glass and wraparound porches, which is patient hand work, and San Marco is much the same. The Southside and the newer subdivisions toward the county line are modern stucco with sliders and screened patios. Downtown and along the Southside corridors the job turns to office towers and business park glass.
Amazing job. Very professional and our windows are perfectly clean. Thanks Squeegeezy!

Like peas in a pod...

Northeast Florida gets a real winter and it produces something the south of the state never sees. Cold glass with warm air behind it collects heavy overnight condensation, and as that runs it carries dust down into the sill and leaves a tide line along the bottom of the pane. Occasional freezes make it worse. We clean sills and tracks so the next cold night has nothing left to pick up.
The rest is regional. Spring pollen off the pines and oaks is heavy enough to coat everything, the beaches communities take daily salt and blown sand, and river facing homes hold humidity that feeds mildew in shaded frames. Port and industrial traffic on the northside adds a road film to any business glass facing those routes.
Yes, and the beaches communities get their own scheduled day. They sit far enough from the mainland neighborhoods that mixing them into one route wastes an hour, and the glass out there behaves differently, taking daily salt and blown sand rather than pollen and shade. Coastal jobs finish with a pure water rinse and include the screens and tracks, which hold salt and undo the glass at the next rain.
Yes, and it is patient work. Those houses have tall double hung sash with divided lites, leaded glass panels in some of them and putty that is often original, so each pane is done by hand with no blade. Wraparound porches and mature planting limit ladder positions, which we look at before quoting. Anything that looks like failing glazing gets pointed out rather than worked over with water.
By river crossing and by quadrant, not by mileage. Two addresses in Jacksonville can look close on a map and still be a bridge and forty minutes apart, so we group each day on one side of the river and keep the beaches separate. When you call, naming the neighborhood along with the address helps us place you on a day we are already working nearby, which keeps travel time out of your quote.
