Working farmland still starts within sight of most new streets in Forney. Subdivisions off Highway 80 and the FM 741 corridor have gone up fast on land that was pasture and row crop very recently, and many of those homes sit with bare graded lots on one side and an active field on the other. That is an unusual setting for a brand new suburban house, and it shows up on the glass within days of a clean.
Downtown is a different job entirely. Around the antique shops and the original main street, buildings have single pane display glass, painted trim and transoms above the doors, and they need less water on them and a good deal more hand detailing. We usually run the new subdivisions and the older commercial blocks on separate days, since the equipment, the working pace and the access requirements have almost nothing in common between the two.

Field work drives the calendar here. When growers disc, plant or harvest, dry soil lifts off open ground and drifts across whatever is downwind, and a new subdivision with bare lots and young landscaping offers nothing to slow it down. Homes on the outer edge of a development take the worst of it.
Blackland clay makes the second half of the problem. It is dark and heavy, so rain splash leaves distinct spatter across the bottom of ground floor windows that cakes hard in the sun. We rinse loose field dust off before wiping so it is carried away rather than dragged, then soften and lift the clay with solution rather than scraping it off dry.
Most likely because there is open ground nearby. New developments here sit next to working fields and freshly graded lots, and when that soil is disturbed by farm equipment or construction it drifts straight onto the closest houses. Landscaping helps once it establishes, but until then homes on the outer edge of a subdivision usually need a shorter exterior cycle than those in the middle.
Blackland clay thrown up by rain hitting bare soil close to the house. It is heavier and darker than ordinary dust and it cakes hard once the sun dries it, so brushing at it does nothing and scraping risks scratching. We soften it with water and solution, lift it, then finish the pane normally. Adding ground cover or extending a bed edge near the wall reduces how much reaches the glass.
