Atlantic Avenue sets the rhythm of our week in Delray Beach. The run from Swinton out toward the ocean is one of the busiest restaurant and retail streets in the county, and the glass along it collects fingerprints, sea air and evening crowds every night it is open. Most of those businesses sit on a weekly or fortnightly route, and we start at first light, before tables go out and the sidewalk fills.
Residential work is quieter and splits block by block. Lake Ida has 1950s and 60s ranch houses on generous lots with awning windows and jalousie porches. The streets around the Marina Historic District and off Swinton hold older two story homes with wood sash and exterior shutters that come off before the pane can be reached. The beach blocks along A1A are their own category, low rise buildings and houses taking wind straight off the Atlantic, and we book those separately because the salt load has nothing in common with a house a mile inland.

Screens hold the same salt, so rinsing the glass alone gets undone the next time rain comes through a salted mesh.
Downtown the trouble is human. Restaurant and shop glass takes hand marks, door push residue, a fine grease carried on kitchen exhaust and street film that settles overnight. That responds to frequency far more than to product, which is why commercial glass here goes on a schedule instead of an occasional call. Coastal homes finish with a pure water rinse and nothing left on the surface.
