Wind is the first thing anyone notices working here, and it never really stops. Along Ocean Drive the older homes look straight out over Corpus Christi Bay with nothing in the way, so their glass takes the full force of what the breeze carries. Out on the island, canal homes and condos sit even more exposed, often with sliding walls, glass rails and third floor decks facing open water.
Move inland and the picture calms down considerably. Neighborhoods on the bluff, in Flour Bluff and out toward Calallen tend to have smaller windows, more tree cover and far less direct exposure to the water. We work with the wind rather than against it, which means starting on the sheltered side of a building and finishing the windward elevation last. On genuinely gusty days, pole work becomes unsafe above a certain height, and we would rather move your date than push a crew into it.

Salt driven by persistent wind is what defines glass here. It is not the gentle settling you get in calmer coastal towns. Steady air pressure pushes salt into every seam and hardware gap, and a bayfront window can look dull again within a couple of weeks of being cleaned.
Sand adds the abrasive element. Fine grains lifted from beaches and open lots get carried inland and land on glass and in the tracks, where careless wiping turns them into scratches. That is why the first step on every job here is a thorough flush with water, never a dry cloth. Once the grit is off, the glass gets washed and squeegeed and the tracks are cleared separately.
Properties directly on the water usually need exterior glass every one to three months, because wind pushes salt back onto the surface almost immediately. Homes several blocks inland can often stretch to twice a year. If your glass looks fine when wet but hazy in bright sun, that is salt rather than dirt, and it is a reliable signal that another wash is due even if nothing looks obviously dirty.

Every job here begins with a full water flush to carry the grit away, then a wash and squeegee. Tracks are cleared separately with a vacuum and brush so nothing abrasive gets pushed back onto the pane.
Yes, within safe limits. Balcony glass, rail panels and sliding walls facing open water are common on the island and they take the worst of the salt. Access depends on the building, so we coordinate with management on roof anchors, elevator use and work windows. Wind decides the rest. Above a certain gust speed pole and rope work is unsafe, so we build flexibility into the date and keep you informed.
