Every vehicle on an unpaved county road throws up a plume of fine rock dust, and properties within a few hundred feet of one carry a gritty film that behaves nothing like ordinary dust. It is abrasive, so it has to be floated off with water rather than wiped, or it will leave fine scratch marks across the pane.
Then there is the hay. When fields are cut and baled through summer, chaff and fine plant material travel a long way on the afternoon breeze and stick to any glass with a bit of morning dew still on it. Homes on well water pick up mineral spotting from sprinklers on top of that, which we treat as a separate step.

Yes, and those need their own estimate. Outbuilding glass tends to be dirtier than house glass, higher up, and reached across uneven or gravel ground, so we would rather see it before quoting than guess. Tell us what is on the property when you call. Many owners have the house done twice a year and the shop once, which usually strikes the right balance between cost and appearance.
