Avondale is one of the older west valley towns wearing a lot of new clothes. Historic Avondale along Western Avenue still has the original small lot homes and the storefronts that gave the city its main street, while Garden Lakes, Rancho Santa Fe and Alamar are suburban builds with the window packages to match. A crew can go from a 1940s bungalow with painted wood sash to a 2018 two story with low emissivity double glazing inside the same morning.
The raceway is the scheduling wildcard. On event weekends the traffic on Avondale Boulevard and the I-10 interchanges reshapes the whole city, so we simply do not book Avondale routes into those days unless a customer specifically wants one. The rest of the time we work east to west off Dysart and Avondale Boulevard, and commercial glass along McDowell and Van Buren gets an early slot.

The Agua Fria riverbed runs right through Avondale, and it is dry most of the year. That means a wide channel of loose sediment sitting in the middle of town, and any wind lifts it. Homes on the streets nearest the bed carry a noticeably heavier film than homes half a mile off, and it is finer and stickier than ordinary road dust.
Hard water does the rest of the damage. The older Avondale neighborhoods have long established irrigation, often with heads that have shifted over the years and now spray the house instead of the lawn. That leaves a chalky band across the bottom of the glass that needs a proper mineral treatment. Scrubbing it just polishes the scale and scratches the pane.
Yes, with a different approach from a modern window. Those homes have painted wood sash where the putty is often original and the paint line is fragile, so water stays off the wood, the work is done by hand and no pressure goes against the glazing. It takes longer than a newer double glazed unit and it is the only sensible way to treat frames that age. Tracks and sills get cleared at the same time.

If you are near the raceway and an event is coming up, mention it when you book. The rest of the time we work east to west off Dysart and keep the day predictable.
It comes back slower than you would think, and there is a real difference between a light film and a bonded one. The dry Agua Fria bed runs right through town and any wind lifts that sediment, so streets nearest the channel do load faster. Left alone though, the film compacts on hot glass and stops rinsing off at all. A regular cycle keeps it in the easy category instead of the stubborn one.
