Drive Aurora from west to east and you travel through about seventy years of building in half an hour. Near Havana Street and along East Colfax the housing is largely single story brick ranches from the 1950s and 1960s, with small aluminum sliders and jalousie style openings that need patient hand work at the frames. Out past Buckley and toward E-470, the same city turns into wide new subdivisions with two story entry glass, tall stairwell windows and back elevations that face nothing but open ground.
That east edge changes how we plan a day. There are no mature trees or older homes to break the wind out there, and driveways are long, so we group Southlands and the newer filings into one run and keep the older west side neighborhoods on another. The Anschutz Medical Campus area brings a steady mix of professional offices and rental houses, where we usually work around weekday shift changes and clean glass entries before the morning arrivals.
Amazing job. Very professional and our windows are perfectly clean. Thanks Squeegeezy!

Like peas in a pod...

The prairie starts where Aurora ends, and glass on the east side pays for it. With no windbreak, spring gusts carry a fine tan silt off open ground and dry fields and press it onto north and east elevations, where it clings in the first damp morning and dries into a visible film. Homes built in the last few years also collect drywall and masonry dust from lots still under construction nearby.
Winter brings the other half of the problem. Snowmelt runs off roofs, splashes grit up onto lower windows, then refreezes overnight and locks it in place. Add sprinkler minerals in summer and most Aurora homes carry two very different kinds of soiling. We work the loose silt off with water first, then treat mineral spotting separately rather than trying to solve both in one pass.
Because there is very little between those neighborhoods and open prairie. The newer filings out toward E-470 have young trees and few windbreaks, so spring wind carries fine silt straight onto the house and it sticks the first time the glass gets dewy. Homes near lots that are still being built pick up masonry and drywall dust on top of that. A spring clean after the windy stretch usually holds better than an early one.
Yes, and they take more time than newer vinyl. The brick ranch homes near Havana Street and along East Colfax mostly run aluminum sliders with narrow tracks that trap grit, plus fixed screens that have not come out in years. We vacuum and wipe the tracks, clean both faces of the glass and rinse the screens separately, because a clean pane behind a dirty screen still looks gray from the street.
We do. Offices and clinics around the medical campus area, along with retail on Parker Road and Havana Street, usually run on a set weekly, biweekly or monthly rotation so entry glass and door pushes stay presentable between deeper cleans. We schedule those visits before opening or after close so nobody is stepping around equipment. Rotations can be adjusted seasonally when winter road spray picks up.
